Active PUP list for Welker

Well, the Patriots officially placed Wes Welker on the active PUP list this morning. This means that Welker will not be able to participate in training camp practices, but can attend meetings and continue with rehab specific workouts.

The key thing to note about all of this is that he can be taken off the list at any point during the preseason. But, (there is always a but!) if he is taken off of the active PUP list during the preseason and something goes wrong, The Pats will no longer have the ability to place him on the reserve PUP at the end of the preseason.

So, placing him on the active PUP list makes sense, right?

Right.

I think. This active/reserve PUP list is rather confusing…
